The Buried Treasure post.
I am participating in the Buried Treasure 2010 project, coordinated by Seth Apter. Details of this event can be found at www.thealteredpage.com. I create these small mixed media/collage pieces every morning at 5h30, sitting at my desk with an espresso (which serves as a wash to delineate the image field!). They are, I suppose, a kind of meditation, a way to focus and begin the day. The format is small (9.5 x 14 centimetres) and I try to post a drawing every day.
The Buried Treasure 2010 event asks artists to post their favorite work from the past year (an interesting exercise!). I have chosen a card originally posted on March 24 2010. It was titled "the sound was deafening" .
I hope you enjoy it.

Enjoy it? LOVE IT!!! Love how you use the coffee to integrate the "waking up" with "art" it's a small and MARVELOUS treasure and very inspiring! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWOW! It is! I like to title my work that gives word clues to the image. This is really neat incorporating the big clue!
ReplyDeleteYour collage pieces are fabulous.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to start each day. And a lovely way, too. I really like your use of color and detail. I see why this would be a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love this, and some of your other pieces that I just saw for the first time today. They are like little worlds all of their own.
ReplyDeleteI just did a fast click on all the Buried Treasure posts and this was my favorite by far! Very inspiring work. I love that you've chosen some parameters and have stuck with them.
ReplyDeleteDo you do you drink any of the coffee?
Again, thanks all for your comments! Much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAnnie these small collages are indeed tiny self-contained, self-sustaining universes. I hope they are not too hermetic!
And Me, yes i do drink the coffee. I can't imagine my day beginning without 2 double espressos back to back!
Take care all.
