Colosseum w/face

Yes, this is a photo of the Colosseum. It is astonishing and seen here as the sun was going down. Note the absence of tourists!

And a card inspired by the brilliant white pyramid. (Yes I know I've made it purple, that's called artistic interpretation.)

Did you know that Rome also has it's pyramid? It's a blinding white structure, the Pyramid of Caius Cestius (12 B.C.), and stands in the middle of a very busy intersection in Ostiense. You would love the traffic in Rome. I certainly did!

In another life, my life as a theatrical, I created a theatre piece called Simon & the Egg. The show told the story of a man's journey to an island called Penumbra, and was in some ways inspired by these small drawings which I make every morning around 5 a.m. (!)
I've just returned from a brief visit to Rome and this series of drawings is a result of this experience.
